REFLECTION #9

GOOD

undefined

This picture is an example of a good jeans display because of the lighting, the way it is organized and the signage.  The lighting used is ambient lighting, which allows the light to hit the ceiling, wall and floor giving the customer the ability to get the best color rendition possible. The lighting system used looks to be florescent lighting, which is good for the customers because it is the best for ambient lighting and also for the company it is the least expensive to operate. Another pro to this display is that it looks pleasing to the eye due to the organization. The jeans are displayed in columns and I would assume with how well it looks it would be organized in the correct sizes from small to the largest. Also, the store has signages with the words Skinny and Jeggings and this is helpful for their customers because it gives them information of the stores product and where it is located.

BAD

undefined

This jeans display is an example of a bad display due to the fact that it goes against certain design elements and principles of design. For starters, the display is showing off the colorful jeans, but they do not have them anywhere on display for customers to grab from. The color palette and the order of how the jeans are set up does not contrast each other because there is no harmony, meaning that it doesn’t look pleasing to the eye in my opinion. It looks as if an employee just decided to through the pairs of jeans on a railing and calling it a day. For a jeans display, this type of wall fixture used doesn’t work especially since the display is informally unbalanced.
